Education - Experience

Hi!
Is your company my future employer? To help you answer that question I’m going to do a presentation of myself:
I was born in a small town called Alingsås just a little bit outside Gothenburg in Sweden. I have always enjoyed practicing different sports, including soccer, table tennis, badminton, floorball and lately mountain-biking. I’m an open person and like to go out with my friends and have a really good time. My girlfriend is a pre-school teacher and she is the best.
I have always been interested in technology, so my choice for high school wasn’t that hard. The last year in high school I studied at a school called “Forsmarks skola”, this is one of the best high schools in Europe when it comes to computer education. As the final project, a friend and me made a system where we could control a VCR, a stereo receiver and a TV from a Macintosh via infrared. We built both the hardware and the software for the system.
When it was time to choose a college master I chose between computer science and electrical science, but the choice fell on computer science when I felt this was what I wanted to work with. The choice of University fell on Chalmers University of Technology because of its reputation out in the industry and in Europe. My thesis project was about the information and communication management at the Autodesk North-West region. I did some preliminary investigations and came up with a design of an Intranet, my goal was to make all information and communication collected in one place but accessible from everywhere. I implemented the solution and it is still in use.
My grade transcripts from Chalmers are available in the enclosure. I succeeded to finish Chalmers without missing a single class, out of 50, this happens to about 10 people every year.
My focus has changed from hardware to software to graphical design and information and communication handling. You can also say that I have changed from being interested in the way computers work to how to use them as a tool for people to communicate. My strength is that I’m interested in, and capable of dealing with, the whole spectrum.

I have now done a little presentation of what I have studied and myself, so now I thought I should tell you a little about my skills.
I have read a lot of programming languages and there is no problem in translating that knowledge into any other language. C, C++, Java, JavaScript (DHTML), TCL, Pascal, Delphi, Ada, Prolog, Comal and Assembler is programming languages that I have more or less worked with. I don’t count HTML as a programming language but I’m also a full-fledged HTML-programmer. I have worked with database interaction through SQL and I’m familiar with ODBC and JDBC connectivity in programming.
I have also read a lot of hardware design and this was from the beginning my focus in computer science, so I think I have an insight in the whole computer system.
I’m running my own company and the focus is on data, communication and design. Most of my jobs have involved Internet publishing, but I have also done some design jobs. I love to work with 3D modeling and animation, but the main tool is Photoshop and 2D design. Because my knowledge in both design and programming I’m able to present a complete solution to the company that matches their needs. The company has always been a side project and has never been intended to grow, but I see it as a valuable experience in running a company by my own.
I have worked as a Macintosh technician at one of the largest Macintosh resellers in Sweden, and at the Swedish National Testing and Research Institute where I made a system for measuring non-sinusoidal signals. It incorporated some D/A and A/D stuff, Fourier transforms and it was implemented in Delphi. I have heard afterward that the system is in use and very appreciated.
Concurrently with my thesis project, which included a lot of database design and scripting, I was the designer and programmer of the public Internet site for the North-West region of Autodesk.
The fall of 1998 my girlfriend and me moved to San Rafael, California to work for Autodesk, Inc. The job involved building Internet applications. The main platform was the Vignette StoryServer application environment. The database was an Oracle 8i and the languages we were using were TCL, SQL, JavaScript, Java and DHTML. I was heavily involved in designing, both the architecture and GUI, and implementing a global dynamic web publishing system used for both their Extranets and their public site www.autodesk.com. The system dynamically drives unprofiled/profiled sites and is maintained completely from the web browser. I also helped develop a project management system.
In November 2000 I moved on to a new job at Charles Schwab. As my position as a senior programmer I’m involved in designing data models, application frameworks, databases and User Interfaces. This is currently mu current position.

In addition to this presentation I can mention that I easily cooperate with people, therefore I like to work in projects. A new assignment is more a challenge than a problem, I love to learn new things. These features make me believe I can handle most computer oriented tasks and projects thrown at me.

This was a rough description of my skills and me. Now it’s up to you how you would like to put us to use.

Kind Regards
